She spins her own thread and weaves her own cloth.

Vive la France, Vive la Tour .
Happy Bastille Day to all our French friends.
The Tour de France was a bit slow today. I think the cyclists were protesting the removal of the communicating devices from their teams cars by the race officials. I don't blame them one little bit. I think they need to be able to communicate with their "coaches" also it's a matter of safety.IMO
When the riders need food/water, bike adjustments, new tires etc how can they communicate this to their coaches/team car without the communicating devices. Oh well, my two cents.
Some more yummy goodness arrived from
Blue Goose Glen yesterday. I love these purples together. I think they will make a lovely batt.

The really yummy stuff is the new Blue Faced Leicester. Glenda said that this is a new item in her shop. Oh, is it ever nice. Beautiful natural colors and so soft. If you are a fan of Blue Faced Leicester you'll love this fiber.

This is the softest BFL that I have ever come across.

I finished carding the grey Shetland and Alpaca that I posted about yesterday and am getting ready to list them on Etsy.

I started on a new colorway this morning. It's Red Rock Canyon 2.

It's a blend of pumpkin Merino, blue Alpaca, blue Merino and blue South American Punta sheep wool. I sold the original Red Rock Canyon on Etsy a few weeks ago. This color is very similar except that I did not add as much white fiber to the mixture.

I'm still spinning on the Northern Lights for the Tour de Fleece. Like the cyclists I had a light day also.

Happy Spinning.

Whew, today is a day of rest for le Tour. The announcers said yesterday during the race that the cyclists don't really like a rest day because it takes them out of the routine of the race. I'm sure their bodies need the rest after climbing those mountains the last two days.
I know I need a rest from spinning.
I decided to wash and set the twist on all of the yarns that I have spun during the tour and some that I spun prior to the tour.

Mountain of Batts.

I have also been working on replenishing my batts on
Etsy. I have spent the last two days drum carding.

I have been working on a listing of Merino, BFL, Alpaca and Tussah called Raspberry Delight. Today I'm working on a simple blend of grey Shetland and grey Alpaca for the natural folks.

I need to feed the grey through the carder another couple of runs.
My shipment from the
Sheep Shed Studio arrived today. I've heard lots of good things about their fibers. I thought I would try using some of the fibers in my Luscious Ditty Batts.

I love the blue.

I finished quilting on DS's basketball quilt. All I have left is to add the binding and it's complete. YEA!!!
We are still experiencing extremely hot and muggy weather here. Still longing for the North Pole.

I'm still adding to the drop spindle cop. I'll probably remove this yarn from the spindle and double ply soon. It's getting heavy. I have never spun 100% Merino on a spindle. One thing I have learned is that it's not as easy to spin on a spindle as other fibers. I have dropped this poor spindle countless times.
Most of my spinning for the Tour has been on the wheel . I'm heading back to Kentucky later this month so I'm saving my spindle spinning for the trip. Thought it would be easier to travel with a spindle than a wheel. lol
Did anyone watch yesterday's race? I was just amazed at their ability to climb those mountains. I am in awe of their strength and stamina. Definitely world class.

I finished spinning and plying on the BFL and Mohair blend from
Picperfic.etsy I love the bright colors of this fiber. Very soft.
I also finished spinning on
Wildcraft's BFL and Silk "Coast" . I have really been excited about spinning this fiber. Wildcraft has some of the nicest and easiest to spin hand dyed fiber available. Can't wait to ply this lovely fiber.
Good luck cyclists and happy spinning Tour de Fleecers.

Here is a picture of yesterday's spinning effort. I'll have to say that my ankles are a bit sore from all the extra treadling. Watching the
Tour is a great motivator for spinning. It's unbelievable that the leader of the Tour is ahead by 1000th of a second.
Louet's Northern Lights - Circus color.
Good luck Tour de Fleecers and Tour de France Cyclists.
